Phil Wogan
Candia Woods Golf Links was designed by Philip Wogan. Phil Wogan is the son of Skip Wogan who worked directly with Donald Ross - often called: "the father of American golf course architecture".
Phil grew up in Massachusetts; he attended North Carolina State, Penn State, Leheigh, and Boston University. After completing a Bachelor's and Master's degree he assisted his father in his golf course design company. In 1957, after his father's death, Phil continued the practice and designed several golf courses in New England.
Wogan courses include: The Country Club of Halifax, Pembroke Country Club, and The Bar Harbor Golf Club. In addition, he worked on design revisions at Blue Hill Country Club, Manchester Country Club, and Onondaga Golf & Country Club.
The Wogan design philosophy is to challenge the accomplished player and, at the same time, provide playability to the average golfer. Candia Woods has been host to a number of regional golf championships and is enjoyed by golfers of every level - he did a great job.
